I’m Kam Low.

I build software and write about the things I’m trying to understand. Much of my work involves systems people rarely see directly: protocols, media pipelines, the machinery behind an agent’s actions. My interests extend into martial arts, perception, and how we organise ourselves.

The earlier work was in real-time communication. In icey, capture, encoding, and transport are separate pieces you connect into a pipeline. You can follow a frame from the camera to the browser, or replace one part without rewriting the rest. Those boundaries make the system easier to understand as it grows.

More recently, the question has become what an agent is allowed to do. Preparing an email and sending it are different decisions. Runx makes the permissions and approval points explicit, then keeps a record of the actions taken. That leaves something to inspect after the conversation has ended.

Writing gives me room to follow questions that don’t end in an implementation. What does it mean to understand a thing? How does practice change what we can notice and feel? There’s more of that in the essays.

Tell me what you’re working on.
